Mustapha’s Statement About Rural Project Cancellation in Sabah is Confusing – Jeffery Nor

KOTA KINABALU: Jeffery Nor Mohamed, the Putatan UMNO Chief, says that Minister Datuk Mustapha Sakmud’s statement about canceling some rural development projects in Sabah is unclear and confusing.

He explained that the confusion comes from the fact that many of the canceled projects were new projects that had been approved but were then stopped or delayed.

“I agree with the Rural Development Minister’s statement that the Treasury Secretary and the Rural Development Ministry Secretary should meet together to give a clear explanation of this issue to members of Parliament so that the correct information reaches the people,” he said in a statement today.

Jeffery said that projects in Sabah should be a priority for the Federal government.

He said this is because compared to other states, Sabah is still behind in infrastructure development.

“Whatever way these projects are paid for and carried out for the benefit of the people is the government’s responsibility.

“As people of Sabah, we need a clear and factual explanation,” said Jeffery.

Yesterday, the Minister said that claims that the MADANI government canceled or cut funding for Rural Road projects (JALB) in Sabah and Sarawak are not true.

According to Mustapha, these claims have no basis and should be supported with clear evidence if anyone believes these projects were canceled by the Federal Government.
