KOTA KINABALU: The State Government has directed that schools in areas exceeding 150 Air Pollutant Index (API) readings for three consecutive days will be closed down temporarily
State Secretary Datuk Zainudin Aman who is also the State Disaster Committee chairman said the move was to protect the school children and teachers from the effect of the harmful haze.
“This is also in line with the Education Ministry’s directive following the Royal Advice issued by the Yang di Pertuan Agong Sultan Ibrahim,” he said in a statement here today.
So far, all schools in Tawau have been directed to be closed beginning Wednesday (Oct 14) due to the worsening haze conditions.
