KOTA KINABALU: The Mayor of Kota Kinabalu, Datuk Seri Dr Sabin Samitah, along with Parliament legislator Farahana Rabidin, has been appointed as board members of the LHDN, effective last Tuesday.
In a statement today, LHDN announced that Sabin will represent the Sabah State Government, while Farahana will represent the Attorney General’s Department.
The State Financial Secretary of Sarawak, Datuk Seri Dr Wan Lizozman Wan Omar, has also been reappointed as a board member for a two-year term, effective from August 1 to July 31, 2028.
Previously, Sabin served as the Chief Executive Officer and Director General of LHDN.
He later worked as the Director General of the National Financial Crime Prevention Centre before becoming the Mayor of Kota Kinabalu.
According to LHDN, Sabin’s extensive experience in taxation, financial crime prevention, and public administration is expected to strengthen the agency’s direction and governance.
LHDN stated that Farahana’s legal expertise and experience will contribute to enhancing governance and considerations related to policy and law.
“LHDN hopes that the experience and expertise brought in will strengthen governance and support the ongoing efforts of LHDN in empowering the nation’s revenue administration,” the statement read.
