Zahid scheduled to launch the Rungus Cultural Festival in Matunggong tomorrow, to be attended by Wetrom and Verdom

KOTA KINABALU: Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr. Ahmad Zahid Hamidi is scheduled to officiate the Rungus Cultural Festival on Saturday at the Momogun Rungus Malaysia Organization Hall in Matunggong.

The event, organized by the Momogun Rungus Malaysia Organization, will see the attendance of its president, Datuk Wetrom Bahanda, who is also the Kota Marudu Member of Parliament, along with Kudat MP Dato’ Verdon Bahanda.

Zahid is expected to arrive at 2 PM to launch the festival, which features a range of cultural and competitive activities.

These include the final rounds of Mongigol Sumundai and Mongodihohoi, arm wrestling contests, as well as traditional dance and music performances.

A lucky draw for visitors is also set to be one of the event’s highlights.

Recent speculation has linked Wetrom—also deputy president of PKDM—and Verdon, an independent MP, with a possible return to the Barisan Nasional coalition through Umno and PBRS, respectively.

However, supporters of the two political siblings have so far downplayed these rumors.
