Tambunan Youth urged to strive for excellence – Victor P Paut

TAMBUNAN: Young people in rural areas are encouraged to keep pushing forward, improving their skills and knowledge, and showing courage as they navigate the challenges of life in today’s world.

Dato’ Victor P. Paut, Head of the Parti Gagasan Rakyat Sabah (PGRS Tambunan Division, emphasized that in this fast-moving era, youth must be resolute and intensify their efforts to stay competitive.

He stressed that being from a village should not be seen as a barrier to success, nor should the city be viewed as the only place for opportunity and comfort.

True achievement comes from perseverance, self-discipline, patience, and an unwavering determination to keep going, regardless of one’s surroundings, he said.

He called on all residents of Kg Lintuhun, particularly the younger generation, to remain committed to personal growth, learning, and building their capabilities.

Victor made these remarks during his closing speech at the Pesta Kaamatan celebration held in Kg Lintuhun, Tambunan, on Saturday.

He noted that change is happening quickly across the globe, and young people must not merely observe it—they must actively take part in shaping it.

“The youth of Tambunan should have the courage to set ambitious goals.

“There’s no reason to shy away from pursuing success in education, modern farming, entrepreneurship, technology, or any other field,” he emphasized.

He reiterated that coming from a village is not a barrier to achievement, pointing out that many young people from rural areas have already demonstrated that, with hard work and perseverance, they can reach the same level as anyone else.

In a separate development, Victor approved a RM10,000 grant for the renovation of the St. Joachim Church Community House in Kg Lintuhun, Tambunan.

Earlier, Fredolin Jakil, Chairman of the Lintuhun Harvest Festival Organizing Committee, presented a welcome address outlining the community’s request.

Victor explained that the funding aims to improve or upgrade the church facilities, ensuring greater comfort and convenience for the local community in the years ahead.
