KOTA KINABALU: The Deputy Chairman of Sawit Kinabalu & Borneo Samudera Sd.Bhd, Dato Victor P. Paut, who is always attentive to the developments in rugby, has made a personal donation of RM10,000 to the PDRM Sabah Contingent Rugby Team today.
This contribution is expected to inspire the PDRM Sabah rugby players as they prepare to compete in the 2026 Inspector General of Police Rugby Championship in Negeri Sembilan, which will take place over four days starting June 10.
Speaking to reporters after the donation ceremony at Menara Kinabalu, Victor expressed hope that this financial support would help alleviate some of the costs associated with purchasing flight tickets for the team’s journey to the tournament.
“As citizens of Sabah, we should take pride in the achievements of the PDRM Sabah team, which previously secured third place overall in the same tournament last year.
“This initiative is hoped to motivate our team this time to achieve victory again and further enhance the reputation of the Sabah Police on the national stage,” he stated.
Victor, who is also the Head of the Gagasan Rakyat Party for N39 Tambunan, mentioned that the state government, under the leadership of the Chief Minister, has been implementing the Sabah Sports Development Strategic Plan since 2021, focusing on grassroots talent development, upgrading sports facilities, and honing athletes for the Malaysia Games (SUKMA) and international competitions.
“It is hoped that the success of the PDRM Sabah Contingent Rugby Team will serve as a prime example for youth rugby teams in our state in the future,” he added.
Victor believes that this mission can be fully realized, especially with Sabah receiving an interim value addition of RM1.5 billion as recently announced by the Prime Minister.
