KOTA KINABALU: A man tragically lost his life after allegedly being electrocuted on the roof of a restaurant located at Sepanggar Seafood Village Restaurant, Karambunai, on Saturday.
The incident took place around 2:16 PM, with reports indicating that the victim was on the roof of the establishment prior to the electrocution.
A spokesperson from the Sabah Fire and Rescue Department (JBPM) Operations Center said that they received an emergency call through the MERS 999 line, which led to a team from the Kota Kinabalu Fire and Rescue Station being dispatched to the site.
“Ten personnel, along with FRT and EMRS vehicles, were quickly sent to the location, approximately 33 kilometres from the station.
“Upon their arrival, the fire team discovered a man on the roof of the building who was believed to have suffered an electrocution,” he said in a statement today.
He further noted that the fire team took action to lower the victim using a stretcher before medical officers from the Ministry of Health Malaysia (KKM) examined him.
“Unfortunately, the victim was pronounced dead at the scene before his body was transferred to the police for further proceedings,” he added.
The operation was concluded at 3:06 PM after the fire team confirmed that there were no additional hazards at the site.
