Unity in diversity – a vital asset for Sabah – Matbali

SIPITANG: Unity in diversity is the most important asset that must be preserved, ensuring that people of various ethnicities in this state continue to live in harmony and peace.

Sipitang Member of Parliament, Datuk Matbali Musah, stated that this is a unique characteristic of Sabah. Despite having over 36 ethnic groups and religions, it does not hinder unity; rather, it serves as the foundation of strength and harmony.

“Indeed, the people of Sabah can celebrate Kaamatan, Chinese New Year, and Aidilfitri together in a peaceful and harmonious atmosphere.

“This reflects the spirit of togetherness, unity, and familial values that strengthen inter-ethnic harmony in this state.

“Let us all work together to ensure that this harmony remains in the present and future,” he said.

Matbali made these remarks while speaking at the Groundbreaking Ceremony for the Craft House of the Lundayeh Cultural Association of Sabah (PKLS) here on Friday.

Also present was PKLS president Datuk Pengiran Lalung.

Matbali, who is also the Chairman of the Malaysian Cocoa Board, praised the leadership of the association for their wisdom, dedication, and outstanding vision that has led the organization to achieve remarkable success.

He noted that the association has not only succeeded in establishing the Lundayeh Cultural Center of Sabah but has also provided facilities for homestay accommodations.

“The excellence of an organization whose members are always united should be emulated by other associations to achieve success,” he said.

In this regard, Matbali urged the people, especially in the Sipitang parliamentary area, to continue to unite for a better future.
