Hajiji does not dismiss the possibility of a ‘little clash’ between GRS and PH

KOTA KINABALU – The Chief Minister and Chairman of the Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS), Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor, does not rule out the potential for seat overlaps between the coalition and Pakatan Harapan (PH) in this upcoming State Election (PRU Negeri Sabah).

However, Hajiji, who is also the President of the Parti Gagasan Rakyat Sabah (Gagasan Rakyat), hopes that such overlaps will not occur since PH is a partner in the coalition.

“I have already concluded… I don’t think it will be that (overlaps will happen); we are still collaborating with PH. A little clash here and there is acceptable.

“The candidates have been finalised; only the announcement remains,” he stated when met by reporters after presenting the SMJ 4.0 Fellow certificates to 42 youths participating in the SMJ Fellow programme at Menara Kinabalu on Monday.

Additionally, he also took a jab at certain individuals who lobby to become candidates and ultimately leave the party when they are not selected.

According to him, it is up to the party president or the chairman of GRS to determine who qualifies as a candidate.

“We do not (expel); they expel themselves. Those who cannot become candidates think they only want to be candidates. When they cannot, they leave (the party).

“So how can they aspire to be leaders and fighters if they lack quality? Just because they cannot become candidates, they sulk and leave, so I hope other parties will also consider taking them,” he remarked.

Meanwhile, when asked about the date for the candidate announcement and manifesto launch, he informed us that both significant events will take place before and after the candidate nomination date.

“The manifesto may be launched after the candidate nomination. Perhaps one or two days after the nomination.

“The candidate announcement will be made soon. I think I will do it around November 11 or 12, three or four days before the nomination,” he said.
