TUARAN: The STAR party is anticipated to field a woman candidate to contest in the Kiulu state constituency in the 17th Sabah State General Election.
According to inside sources from the STAR party, one of the names mentioned as a potential candidate for Kiulu is the Committee member of Wiranita STAR Sabah, Karen Cassandra Ambrose.
Hailing from Kampung Tiong Ratau in Kiulu, 29-year-old Karen Cassandra holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Communication from Universiti Utara Malaysia.
When asked to comment on the speculation, Karen Cassandra merely said that there has not yet been any official announcement regarding the matter.
“As a strong supporter of the party, I am ready to be a candidate in the Sabah state general election, should I be given the opportunity by the leadership of the STAR party,” she said.
She added, however, that it is ultimately up to the party leadership to make the decision.
Previously, many political observers predicted that Kiulu STAR leader Gundohing Terence Sinti would be renominated to contest in Kiulu.
Meanwhile, the incumbent Datuk Joniston Bangkuai representing GRS, Henry Saimpon (KDM), and Saibin Gunsari (Warisan) are almost certain to contest in the Kiulu state constituency in the upcoming state general election.
