Frequent changes in the state government  detrimental to the people – Masiung

By Yussof J. Imbang

TONGOD: Sabah has gone through three phases of government transition and three Chief Ministers over two terms, creating a challenging political landscape that clearly harms the people, stated the former assemblyman for Kuamut, Datuk Masiung Banah.

“We must put aside all forms of political power struggles and unite as a large family, including the youth, villagers, civil servants, self-employed individuals, and those in the private sector, to heal and improve our state.

“Therefore, we need to maintain political stability so that the development programs planned by the current state government can continue,” he said.

Masiung made these remarks while officiating the closed football tournament for the DMB Cup, which involved 32 teams at the Sanan and Semundu village fields recently.

He also presented 55 sets of jerseys to the participating teams.

At the same time, he launched the release ceremony for 155 young athletes from Tongod who will take on challenges in the Sabah Sports Games (SAGA) starting October 11 in Tawau.

He emphasized that the frequent changes in the Sabah state government in the past are the main reasons for the stagnation and failure of the development plans for the people.

Masiung, who is also the Vice President of the Gagasan Rakyat, urged the youth not to be easily swayed by political sentiments driven by leaders hungry for power.

He stated that it is time for the youth to think positively and embrace the concept of togetherness to support the current state government.

“Imagine a five-year plan being delayed when the government changes, the Chief Minister changes, government officials change, and new policies are introduced, only for the government to change again before implementation, ultimately causing the people to suffer losses,” he added.
