Everything is possible in politics – Nothing wrong with Warisan-UMNO’s alliance – Political Analyst

KOTA KINABALU: Political narratives though may not provide the actual outcome of what is transpiring are sometimes used to gauge events or sentiments that might have strong bearing on the outcome of future events.

There are the known knowns, the known unknowns and the unknown unknowns. They may be based on reports, forecasts, speculations, hypothesis or even hearsays.

We are not God in determining the actual outcome of future events nor are we a clairvoyant of Nostradamus’s instinct but we can build up a prognosis from events unfolding.

The pivotal questions that embrace the minds of the Sabah electorates presently are, will the present government be able to continue serving the people of Sabah after the election.

Will Warisan contest the coming election single handedly. Will UMNO form a political alliance with Warisan or will it in the dying minutes be persuaded to unite in the PH-GRS unholy alliance.

The more pressing questions are, will there be more unsuspecting events that might unfold.

Status quo the political equation is very fluid and base on recent events unfolding, the political climate is only intensifying creating uncertainties and becoming convoluted and slippery.

Political sentiments and political affiliations may provide some of the answers to our predictions but they may not be decisive.

There are other political variables that could change that prospect. We are still strongly shackled by one denomination and that is money politics.

The recent allegations of rampant corruptions, the incessant interruption of basic necessities’s supply of water and electricity, the flooding phenomena and the poor roads predicament have all invited frustration and exasperation. We have become more literate and conscious with our rights.

The demands for the fulfillment and restoration of MA63, the contentious issue of Art. 112D & E and the call for increased Parliamentary seats allocation for Sabah are national issues which have for so many years been neglected and become “mere castle in the air” and remained as an unsolved political myth.

More recently, STAR and SAPP’s stand on breaking ties with GRS is not unusual but much rather anticipated and worth pondering on to gauge where Sabah’s politics is headed to. It would be naive to say that, that “chemical reaction” was politically premeditated which I believe, was not. There is more than just meets the eye.

There will be more turn of events slipping through the cracks coming up to the election. There is also this notion that a few small pockets in Sabah where politics is based on religion and race. We need to drain the swamp and see what is inside it.

Warisan/UMNO alliance is not an improbable. Everything is possible as Otto Von Bismarck clearly said “politics is the art of the possible”.

There is nothing wrong with Warisan/UMNO’s alliance. There is nothing wrong if Shafie is to concede the Chief Ministership to Bung. Everything is possible in politics and I have written a quote a few years back “where there is bargain, there is nothing to bar gains”. That is imminent in Malaysian politics.

We have burned our fingers in the past and hopefully we will not have to endure that in the future.
