KOTA KINABALU: The Welfare Body of UMNO Sabah Barisan Nasional (BN) is scheduled to initiate a post-flood expedition this Saturday to assist victims affected in several districts.
This was conveyed by the Sabah UMNO Chief, Datuk Seri Bung Moktar Radin, who is also the Chairman of Sabah BN, through a post on his Facebook page.
“This Saturday, the Welfare Body of UMNO/BN Sabah will launch the post-flood expedition to help clean up schools, mosques, suraus, and other public buildings as well as private homes in the districts of Putatan, Beaufort, Kimanis, and Papar.
“I hope this effort can alleviate the burden faced by the flood victims,” he stated.
Earlier, Bung, along with the leadership of UMNO Sabah, accompanied the Deputy Prime Minister and President of UMNO, Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi, to the temporary evacuation centre for flood victims in the districts of Putatan, Beaufort, Kimanis, and Papar.
The State Disaster Management Committee (PKOB) reported that the number of flood victims in Sabah continues to rise, with 3,193 residents from 916 families currently housed in 128 Temporary Evacuation Centres (PPS) across seven districts as of Thursday morning.
