KOTA KINABALU: Former Federal Minister Datuk Seri Dr Salleh Said Keruak has urged the people of Sabah to prioritise unity and maintain the current harmony as the state approaches an election this year.
“Independence serves as a reminder that genuine strength is derived from unity, not from division.
“While choosing different political parties is a right of the people, it should never compromise harmony or respect in the political arena,” he stated in his recent Facebook update.
Salleh emphasised that political competition should focus on ideas aimed at developing the state in accordance with the spirit of MA63 — avoiding insults and slander.
The former Chief Minister of Sabah remarked that independence loses its significance if politics fosters division.
“It should be characterised by stability, justice, and opportunities for every Sabahan,” he continued.
Salleh asserted that unity is essential, and only through stability and collaboration can Sabah advance within a more robust Malaysia.
“Sabah is more significant than division, and Malaysia is stronger when united,” he said.
