Using “Sabah” in a party name—no guarantee of success—Salleh

KOTA KINABALU: All political parties, regardless of being local or national, are registered under the same legislation, stated former Sabah Chief Minister Datuk Seri Dr. Salleh Said Keruak, emphasising that incorporating “Sabah” in a party’s name does not inherently guarantee that they serve the interests of Sabahans.

He said political parties are just tools to pursue their desired goals in politics.

“What matters is the person behind them. If a leader is a true Sabahan and sincerely serves the people, that’s what counts—not the party’s label.

“What people want is action—better roads, jobs for youths, affordable living, and real development,” he said in his latest Facebook post.

The Usukan assemblyman said Sabahans have also fought long for MA63.

“That fight must produce real outcomes—more autonomy, fair funding, and stronger state rights.

“It’s not about who shouts the loudest, but who gets things done,” he said.

Salleh stressed that the people must judge leaders by their commitment, not their party.

“Sabahans can lead anywhere, as long as they never forget who they serve.

“Sabahan No. 1 means putting Sabahans first in every decision—defending their rights, raising their voices, and making them proud through real work, not empty slogans,” he added.

He said the future of Sabah lies in the hands of its people—who they choose and what they stand for.
