KOTA MARUDU: The Acting President of the Parti Bersatu Sabah (PBS), Datuk Seri Dr. Joachim Gunsalam, has called on all party members to work harder and strengthen collaboration to defend PBS seats, including in the Tandek area.
He also requested strong support from allies in the Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS) to ensure the victory of PBS candidates in the upcoming State Election (PRN).
“I want to emphasise that we aim to assist our own people. As a native of Sabah, it is crucial that we empower the local party,” he stated during the opening of the PBS Tandek Annual General Meeting at the Open Hall of Pekan Tandek here on Thursday.
Dr. Joachim, who is also the Deputy Chief Minister II and Minister of Local Government and Housing, mentioned that cooperation with parties from the Peninsular is important, but priority should be given to stability and political leadership at the state level first, and such cooperation will only exist when the local party (GRS) leads the politics of this state.
“Sabah is our homeland. We understand better and can address issues in a more inclusive and comprehensive manner in this state,” he asserted.
He also reminded all PBS members that they are the backbone of the party and urged the entire machinery to rise up and advocate for PBS’s aspirations throughout Sabah.
“We need to work hard for the party and support each other to achieve success,” he said.
In his speech, he also expressed appreciation to the Tandek PBS chief, who is also the ADUN of Tandek, Datuk Hendrus Anding, for the invitation to officiate the meeting.
Also present were PBS Youth Chief Datuk Christoper Mandut, Youth Exco, Women Exco, and representatives from component parties in GRS.
