TAMBUNAN: After almost three decades, the Gombiau Family Day Program was finally successfully held again with great enthusiasm on 2 May 2025 at the Datuk John Gaisah Hall, Kampung Sunsuron, Tambunan.
The last time this programme was held was in 1997.
This historic event brought together six large families, namely, Kombuyug, Liama, Latima, Latama, Kolingu and Amin. It became a place for relatives to reunite and an opportunity to strengthen family ties in a friendly and harmonious atmosphere.
The Chairman of Gombiau Family Day, Mr Daniel Dilliam, in his speech, expressed the hope that such programmes could be continued every year to nourish the family spirit among the new and old generations.
The ceremony was also lively with the presence of several famous family figures, such as Justin Lusah, singer of the popular song “Jambatan Tamparuli”; Julius Lusah; Rosario Bianis; David Totorial; and Kumbibi, who brightened the atmosphere with their presence.
The highlight of the event was the presentation of the main prize in the form of a motorcycle, which was a sincere donation from Parti Gagasan Rakyat Sabah (Gagasan Rakyat) Tambnunan divisional head, Dato’ Dr Victor P. Paut.
The prize was won by Lazarus Lusah, who expressed his highest appreciation and gratitude for the donation.
Daniel also expressed his gratitude to all the committee members who had worked hard to ensure the smooth and successful organisation of this programme.
This programme was not only a family gathering but also a platform to strengthen friendship and unity among the local community.
