KINABATANGAN: Political changes will take place in the UMNO traditional area of Sukau and Lamag after the Parti Gagasan Rakyat Sabah (Gagasan Rakyat) forms a new rank.

Vice President of the Gagasan Rakyat Datuk Masiung Banah said the local party would put the best candidate ahead of the 17th state general election to seize the seat in both areas.

“Based on the incredible response to two series of Sabah Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor’s visit, the party has given a clear indication that the party is increasingly popular and gaining the support of the grassroots majority.

Masiung was met by the media while accompanying Hajiji at the Iftar Ramadhan ceremony at Tun Juhar Mosque attended by more than 3,000 Sukau and Lamag residents.

At the Sukau/Lamag People’s Ideas Assembly in July 2023, Hajiji also won over 7,000 people in both areas in Sukau Square.

“The people’s ideas are a local party; we are able to gain great support to seize the Sukau and Lamag state assembly seats.

“I see the political landscape in both state constituencies showing a significant change in recent times. We ideas with the people of the Sabah People’s Coalition (GRS) component parties will work hard to secure the victory ahead of the PRN.

“We are on the part of what we promise to cash, in contrast to the opposition group, which can only create stories and spread promises.

“Opposition parties can only create issues so that the people hate government leaders while creating people for support,” he added.

Masiung, who is also a representative of the people of Kuamut, said the Chief Minister had previously assured that he would pay special attention to Sukau and Lamag.

The setting up of the Sukau Small District Office was implemented on February 15 in addition to the construction of the RM3 million Sukau Council.

During the breaking ceremony yesterday, the Chief Minister also announced the work of improving the Tun Juhar Mosque.

Accordingly, the Sukau Small District Office and the Mosque Committee were ordered to submit work specifications as soon as possible.
