KOTA KINABALU: The upcoming state election (PRN) is vital for the people of Sabah, including Chinese voters, to select a leader and government capable of steering the state towards progress.
Datuk Seri Mohd Shafie Apdal, president of Warisan, emphasised that his party has a well-defined plan ready to be executed immediately upon assuming power.
Warisan has previously stated its intention to collaborate exclusively with local parties for the 17th Sabah state assembly elections this year, distancing itself from national parties such as PH, Barisan Nasional, and Perikatan Nasional.
Shafie is optimistic about the party’s increased support in this year’s elections, even in areas with a significant Chinese population that have traditionally favoured Pakatan Harapan.
He noted that Sabahans have matured politically and are clear about the qualities they seek in their leaders.
“I believe that Chinese voters are discerning and desire a trustworthy leader. For them, the candidate’s identity is secondary.
“What truly matters are the changes they seek in business opportunities, job creation, and access to essential goods that are currently insufficient,” he stated.
Warisan continues to hold a strong foothold in Sabah’s east coast, particularly in Semporna, which Shafie has represented in the Dewan Rakyat since 1995.
