After visiting several areas like Kundasang, Bingkor, Papar, Moyog, and Kadamaian, the event in Pitas today attracted thousands of attendees.

The event was launched by KDM President Datuk Peter Anthony, who was joined by his Deputy Datuk Wetrom Bahanda and other top party leaders.

Richard Mazagi leads the KDM Kudat division, also serving as the coordinator for the Bengkoka State Assembly area, while his deputy, Abdul Hamid, coordinates the Pitas area.

In his speech, Peter highlighted that the large turnout shows that KDM is gaining acceptance among the people of Sabah, despite being seen as a smaller party.

He noted that there is increasing demand for the party to expand its reach, including in areas that are not predominantly Kadazan Dusun and Murut (KDM) as well as mixed areas.

“Yes, we are considered a small party, but there is a growing request for us to extend our presence in non-majority KDM areas.

“KDM, or the Democratic Community Welfare Party, is a multi-ethnic party, and more people from various backgrounds are expressing interest in joining our cause,” he stated.

Peter also reiterated that the party will run independently in the upcoming PRN17, with plans to contest over 30 seats.

He said that the party’s chances of winning targeted areas are improving, thanks to the positive response and the hard work of each division.
