QSB has the potential to collaborate with KUSKOP to develop SMEs in Sabah: Ewon

KOTA KINABALU: Entrepreneur Development and Cooperatives Minister, Datuk Ewon Benedick, said that Qhazanah Sabah Berhad (QSB) has the potential to establish a partnership with his ministry to assist in the development of small and medium enterprises (SMEs) in Sabah.

In this regard, he recommended that QSB become one of the registered vendor companies with the Ministry of Entrepreneur Development and Cooperatives (KUSKOP).

“The Vendor Development Program (PPV) provides opportunities for registered vendors with anchor companies to receive guidance in terms of training, technical support, advisory services, and productivity enhancement,” he remarked.

He made these comments following a visit to QSB at Menara Kinabalu today.

During the visit, Ewon was also briefed on the SME Investment Partner (SIP) Program implemented by Qhazanah Investment (QISB) with funding support from SME Corp, an agency under the Ministry of Entrepreneur Development and Cooperatives (KUSKOP).

“I am very pleased with the outstanding achievements of Qhazanah Investment, which has ensured that SIP funds have been invested in SMEs across the country, yielding returns on investment.

“Discussions with QSB also focused on potential collaborations that could be strengthened, particularly in developing SMEs in Sabah.

“I extend my gratitude to the Chairman of QSB, Datuk Dr. Yusof Yacob, and the senior management of QSB and QISB for their warm reception and fruitful discussions,” he added.

Also present during the visit were the Chairman of SME Corp, Tan Sri Bernard Dompok, the Director of SME Corp Sabah, Valentine Thomas, and the Public Relations Secretary to the Minister of Industrial Development and Entrepreneurship of Sabah, Amos Thien.
