PUTATAN: Sabah UMNO election director Jeffrey Nor Mohamed has urged the youth to take advantage of the opportunities available to them in order to elect leaders and a government that genuinely prioritises the interests of the people and the nation, ensuring sustainable development and well-being.

In making the call, he highlighted that Umno/BN has implemented reforms aimed at empowering young individuals, not only as voters but also by promoting them as candidates in the recent by-elections in Nenggiri, Kelantan, and DUN Mahkota, Johor, where young candidates represented BN.

He said this during the Youth and Young Women Gathering held in Tebungon village recently.

Jeffery emphasised that this initiative by BN demonstrates the party’s acknowledgement of the youth and its dedication to amplifying their voices on a platform that truly comprehends the aspirations and needs of the younger generation.

He also called on young people, particularly those aged 18 and above, to actively participate in the upcoming 17th state election by exercising their voting rights.

He cautioned the youth to be judicious and discerning in their selection of government, advising them to avoid being swayed by political tactics that prioritise personal gain over the welfare of the youth.

“There are numerous challenges confronting the youth in this state, such as the insufficient job opportunities provided by the state government, which compels many young individuals to relocate to other states, especially in Peninsular Malaysia, in search of employment,” he remarked.

He noted that these challenges are among the key priorities for Umno/BN, and “if given the opportunity to govern in the upcoming 17th state election, their agenda will concentrate on empowering youth across various sectors, including education, skills enhancement, and economic development.”.
