Sabah still needs to collaborate with national parties and is not yet in a position to emulate Sarawak’s approach—Hajiji

SIPITANG: Sabah is not yet able to form a political alliance solely with local parties like Sarawak for the upcoming State Election (PRN).

Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor stated that Sabah requires collaboration among local parties through the Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS) along with other national party partners.

He said that the current partnership between GRS and Pakatan Harapan (PH), which forms the state government, will continue into the PRN.

“In politics, we must work together with our partners, and that is what we are doing in GRS. We need to be united. We also have to collaborate with the national parties present in Sabah.

“This is our setup in Sabah; we are not yet like Sarawak. Whether we like it or not, this is our situation. The key is to strengthen unity within GRS, along with our partners in PH and others.

“If we cooperate without sabotage and support each other, I am confident we can win easily in the upcoming PRN,” he said.

Hajiji, who is also the GRS Chairman, made these remarks while officiating the Annual Meeting of the Parti Gagasan Rakyat Sabah (Gagasan Rakyat) in Sindumin on Saturday.

Also present were the Sindumin Gagasan Rakyat chief, Datuk Dr Yusof Yacob, and other state leaders.

Hajiji, who is also the President of Gagasan Rakyat, reminded party members, including those in Sindumin, to strengthen Gagasan Rakyat and maintain cooperation with partners in GRS and national parties.

“Let’s enhance our unity and solidify our collaboration with partners in GRS and PH Plus. We need to help each other to ensure victory in Sindumin and all other areas in the PRN,” he added.
