KOTA KINABALU: The Court of Appeal is set to deliver its judgement on June 18, 2024, regarding SLS’s application for a judicial review, which was opposed by the Federal Attorney General’s Chambers. The proceedings will take place online.

The COA’s decision will represent a pivotal moment in Sabah’s quest for justice concerning its 40% entitlement to federal revenue. We are cautiously optimistic that the COA will rule in favour of SLS.

However, should the decision not be in our favour, it will mark a significant turning point in Sabah’s ongoing struggle to obtain what is rightfully ours as outlined in the Malaysia Agreement of 1963 and the Federal Constitution.

SLS filed the judicial review application in 2022 to overturn the gazetting by the federal government of the RM125.6 million annual grant for Sabah, claiming that it violated the state’s revenue rights under the Malaysia Agreement 1963 (MA63).
