MBS President Abqaree Fawwaz Abekan said that the decision made by Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor is in line with the needs of students from the state who mostly come from less privileged families.

“MBS has previously been affected by the complaints of IPT students from Sabah who are unable to return to their hometowns, especially during festive seasons.

“The announcement made by Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor is good news for the children of Sabah, who mostly come from less privileged families,” Abqaree said in a statement here today.

At the same time, Abqaree also urged the state government to remain committed to supporting the needs of youth in the state, besides praising previous initiatives taken by the government such as the Sabah Youth Entrepreneurship Scheme (SYABAS) and the Sabah Youth Council Programme, which have had a significant impact on the development of 2.4 million youth in the state.

“MBS hopes that the state government will continue to be committed to supporting the aspirations and needs of youth in this state for a better future for Sabah.

“The previous steps taken by the government, such as the SYABAS Programme and the Sabah Youth Council, have had a significant impact on youth development in this state,” Abqaree added.

On Monday, during an iftar event with over 1,000 Sabah IPT students in Pulau Pinang, the Chief Minister of Sabah, Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor, announced a one-off flight ticket subsidy for students studying in Peninsular Malaysia, Sarawak, and W.P. Labuan with a total allocation of RM10 million.
