KOTA KINABALU: This morning, the detainee who had managed to escape from the Kepayan lock-up in Kota Kinabalu, Sabah on Saturday, has been apprehended once again.
According to FMT, State deputy police commissioner Shahurinain Jais stated that the police apprehended the suspect, who was discovered hiding in a dilapidated cabin within a woodland close to Mimpian Jadi Resort in Tuaran, at approximately 11.50.
The Sabah police expressed their gratitude to the public for providing valuable information that led to the apprehension of the suspect,” he informed FMT.
Earlier, it was reported that the 33-year-old detainee, known as Nazri Hassan, managed to escape by climbing the grilled door while being escorted by the lock-up officer to the interrogation room at approximately 12.30pm on Saturday.
Subsequently, he fled towards the fence and successfully evaded capture by running into the nearby bushes.
The suspect has been remanded from December 10 to December 18 to aid investigations under Section 431A of the Penal Code, which pertains to the act of damaging telegraph cables, wires, lines, posts, instruments, or apparatus for signaling.
Additionally, the police are conducting an inquiry into the officer responsible for escorting the prisoner and will determine the appropriate disciplinary measures once the investigation concludes.
