KOTA KINABALU: Consumers should be wise in comparing the prices of goods that are not controlled by the Ministry of Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs (KPDNHEP) so as not to be deceived.
Sabah West Coast Wise Consumers Association president David Chan asked consumers before buying goods that are not controlled by KPDNHEP, consumers are advised to compare prices at other stores.
He said consumers should be smart to compare affordable prices to avoid them being scammed or paying higher prices.
“In comparing prices, we also need to examine the quality of the goods involved. Consumers need to be smart and aware of their rights in buying goods, he said.
“Appropriate action will be taken by the enforcement authorities if the price set by the trader does not make sense,” he explained.
He said this in a statement after visiting the Ramadan bazaar around Kota Kinabalu here yesterday.
In the meantime, he said, consumer associations often received complaints from the public about in some supermarkets and wholesale stores around the city finding stocks of packaged cooking oil difficult to find. Besides the price of food sold in the Ramadan bazaar is a bit more expensive than usual.
