GRS Women’s Welfare Unit assist nine recipients in Sepanggar and Tuaran

KOTA KINABALU: The Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS) Women’s Welfare Unit continued its support for people in need yesterday, visiting nine beneficiaries and distributing aid in the Sepanggar and Tuaran parliamentary areas.

Led by the unit’s chairperson, Datin Mary Wong, the program supported elderly people, patients with chronic kidney disease, stroke survivors and people with blood vessel conditions. It also included a baby born prematurely who needs follow-up treatment for eye problems.

Some recipients face ongoing health challenges and need regular care, including dialysis as often as three times a week.

Mary said the program was not only about providing contributions. It also gave her team a chance to learn about the difficulties experienced by patients and their families.

“For people facing health challenges and hardships, knowing that caring individuals are willing to help can mean a great deal,” she said.

She added that the visits help the team identify further support that could be arranged through the appropriate channels to ease the recipients’ burdens.

The unit will continue reaching out to the community, especially to people who need care and welfare assistance, she said.
