CM RECEIVES COURTESY CALL FROM COMMUNICATIONS MINISTER

KOTA KINABALU: Chief Minister Datuk Seri Panglima Haji Hajiji Haji Noor today received a courtesy call from Communications Minister Dato’ Seri Fahmi Fadzil at his office at Menara Kinabalu, here.

Accompanying Fahmi were Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) Chairman Tan Sri Mohamad Salim Fateh Din and MCMC Commission Member General (Rtd) Tan Sri Dato’ Sri Zulkifeli Mohd Zin.

Also present were State Education, Science, Technology and Innovation Minister Datuk James Ratib, Nominated State Assemblyman Datuk Mohamed Razali Mohd Razi, Permanent Secretary of the State Ministry of Education, Science, Technology and Innovation Datuk Hassan Mahali and Sabah Net Chairman Datuk Azman Ruslan.

Hajiji was briefed on the latest development for the second phase of the National Digital Network Plan (JENDELA 2), a key initiative aimed at expanding digital communications infrastructure and connectivity in Sabah.

The implementation of JENDELA 2 is expected to benefit residents, particularly those in rural and remote areas who continue to face challenges in accessing quality internet services due to geographical factors and population distribution.

The Communications Minister had earlier announced that JENDELA 2 would cover 3,000 locations nationwide, with approximately 2,000 locations in the remote areas of Sabah and Sarawak being the focus of the second phase.
