PENSIANGAN: Mudi Dubing, a member of the Warisan Supreme Council, has called on UMNO representatives accused of making statements that touch on religious sensitivities to publicly apologise to the Christian community.
He stated that political differences and freedom of speech should not be used as excuses to make statements that could offend the religions and beliefs of others.
“Malaysia is made up of various religions, races, and cultures. We can have differing political views, but we must respect each other’s religions and beliefs,” he said.
He noted that Sabah has long been recognised as a state that practises high tolerance among followers of different religions.
He emphasised that this harmony must be maintained and should not be compromised due to political interests.
“Apologising does not diminish a person’s or a party’s dignity. On the contrary, it reflects maturity, humility, and respect,” he said.
