SANDAKAN: Sabah’s Wushu exponents delivered a strong performance at the Malaysia Games (SUKMA) in Selangor, securing two gold and three bronze medals to boost the state contingent’s overall tally.
The medal winners for Sabah are: Gold: Fyenlly Himon, Gold: Amirah Sofea Azlan Bronze: Dione Babyline Fely, Bronze: Brandon Eranel Soriano and Bronze: Rylan Tan Jin Yi
The team received unwavering support throughout the competition from Sabah Wushu Association president and Wushu Federation of Malaysia deputy president, Datuk Chin Kim Hiung, alongside Majlis Sukan Negeri (MSN) Sabah director, Mohd Asneh Mohd Nor.
Mohd Asneh praised the team for their vital contribution to the state’s medal count and expressed hope that they will continue to build on this success in upcoming tournaments.
Overall, Chin expressed satisfaction with the team’s performance, attributing the achievement to the dedication and commitment of both the athletes, team manager Lee Hon Yu and other officials.
He also voiced optimism that Sabah Wushu is on a positive trajectory for even greater successes in the future.
This year’s haul marks a notable improvement from SUKMA 2024, where Sabah’s Wushu team brought home four medals.
