SANDAKAN: A group of international representatives arrived in Sandakan on Thursday to take part in a Safety Briefing and Assessment Program organized by the Eastern Sabah Security Command (ESSCOM).
The initiative aims to provide an in-depth look at how security is managed within the Eastern Sabah Security Zone (ESSZone).
The participating countries include Switzerland, Germany, Italy, Slovakia, the United States, Finland, Belgium, the Czech Republic, Austria, along with officials from the European Union.
Also present were Malaysia’s Minister of Home Affairs, Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail; Sabah State Secretary Datuk Zainuddin Aman; Ministry of Home Affairs (KDN) Secretary-General Datuk Dr Awang Alik Jeman; and ESSCOM Commander Datuk Victor Sanjos.
As part of the program, the delegation attended presentations by various security agencies outlining strategies, the current security landscape, and enforcement actions in place across the ESSZone.
They also carried out field visits to key locations to observe frontline security operations, assessing how prepared security units are in maintaining safety and stability in the eastern part of Sabah.
