Salleh praises Johor as a model for development

KOTA KINABALU: Former Sabah chief minister Datuk Seri Dr Salleh Said Keruak expressed strong admiration for the evident pace of economic advancement he observed during a recent trip to Johor.

He noted that signs of construction are widespread across the state, spanning industrial zones, residential projects, shopping hubs, and large-scale infrastructure developments.

According to Salleh, this level of activity goes beyond mere economic indicators.

“It reflects thoughtful planning, strong investor trust, and solid coordination between state and federal authorities,” he wrote in a recent Facebook update.

He highlighted that Johor has emerged as one of Malaysia’s top destinations for investment.

Initiatives like the Johor-Singapore Special Economic Zone, he said, are drawing high-value investments, generating employment, and boosting the state’s long-term economic outlook.

Under the leadership of Onn Hafiz Ghazi, the Johor government has prioritized creating a conducive environment for business while steadily upgrading infrastructure and public services, Salleh noted.

“The outcomes are becoming clearly visible,” he remarked.

As Sabah UMNO treasurer, Salleh acknowledged the Barisan Nasional-led state administration in Johor for its dedication to growth and development.

“Crucially, these efforts are translating into real benefits for residents—more jobs, thriving businesses, and better public amenities,” he said.

He added that his visit reaffirmed an important point: consistent development planning, effective governance, and focused leadership lead to measurable progress.

“Johor now serves as a clear example of how sound administration and strategic action can produce meaningful outcomes for both citizens and the state,” he concluded.
