KOTA KINABALU: Mohd Khairuddin Daud, Deputy Chief of Wira Warisan Central, has dismissed comments by Sabah Chief Minister’s Chief Political Secretary, Datuk Azrul Ibrahim, about Opposition Leader Datuk Seri Mohd Shafie Apdal attending the Keningau district’s Kaamatan opening ceremony, calling them immature.
Khairuddin disagreed with the suggestion that Shafie’s participation casts doubt on or weakens government stability.
He emphasized that, as public officials, they should support community cohesion—particularly during Kaamatan, a celebration highlighting the harmonious coexistence of Sabah’s diverse ethnic communities.
He urged Azrul to recognize the significance of this year’s theme, “Harvesting Unity, Celebrating Harmony,” and show greater sensitivity toward its message.
Khairuddin also pointed out that Azrul had previously criticized those who resist Sabah becoming more like Sarawak and questioned whether he now opposes celebrating differences in the spirit of unity.
