TAMBUNAN: The culture of `mogitatabang’ (the spirit of mutual cooperation), respect for one another, and a spirit of togetherness, which have historically been the foundation of the Kadazandusun community’s strength, must continue to be upheld not only within families but also in communal life.
Deputy Chairman of Sawit Kinabalu, Dato’ Victor P. Paut, said these values need to be understood and embraced as a collective responsibility, not just as members of an association but also as family and community members, to maintain harmony, strengthen unity, and ensure that the state of Sabah remains peaceful, stable, and prosperous.
“We cannot be divided, we cannot be complacent; we must remain united, think maturely, and act responsibly for the future of our children and grandchildren,” he said.
He made these remarks when officiating the simultaneous opening of the 33rd Annual General Meeting, Family Day Celebration, and Kaamatan Festival of the Veterans Association of the Armed Forces (PVTM) Tambunan Branch, at Stone Garden, Tambunan, last Saturday.
Victor, who is also the Tambunan Parti Gagasan Rakyat Sabah (PGRS) Chief said that the Kaamatan Festival teaches the Kadazandusun community the meaning of gratitude for the fruits of their labor and the blessings of life.
“It also reminds us that success can only be achieved when we work together, trust one another, and operate as a strong community,” he added.
He urged the members of the association and the entire Kadazandusun community to continue to strengthen the spirit of togetherness and harmony.
At the event, Victor, who is also the patron of the Tambunan branch of the ATM veterans, approved an annual grant of RM10,000 to the Tambunan PVTM branch and expressed hope that the funds would be utilized effectively.
The event was also attended by the President of the PVTM State of Sabah, Rudimin Jaafar, and the Head of the Tambunan PVTM branch, Oliver Olang.
