SANDAKAN: Approximately 200 houses on water were lost in a major fire in Kampung Bahagia here early this morning.
According to the Sabah Fire and Rescue Department (JBPM), the fire involved temporary houses covering an area of about 300 square meters and was completely burned down.
The firefighting operation faced challenges due to narrow access and the receding sea water, which complicated water supply.
Additionally, strong winds and the close proximity of the houses caused the fire to spread rapidly.
As of now, the fire has not been fully brought under control.
