KOTA KINABALU: Warisan is calling on the state government to adopt a firmer approach in advocating for the 40% state revenue claim following the Court of Appeal’s decision to grant a stay of execution on the High Court’s order regarding Sabah’s 40% net revenue entitlement.
Warisan’s Supreme Council member, Mudi Dubing, stated that this decision should not be used as an excuse to further delay the enforcement of Sabah’s rights, which have long been enshrined in the Constitution.
He noted that these rights have been recognised, including by the federal government, and must be implemented without further delays.
He emphasised that the state government needs to take a leading role in driving this effort and should not rely solely on negotiations.
Furthermore, he mentioned that a strong stance from Sabah’s members of Parliament could exert greater pressure on the federal government.
Mudi affirmed that Warisan will support any decisive actions taken to ensure that Sabah’s rights are fully realised.
