JANS urged to take drastic action to resolve water issues at Kem Lok Kawi – Jeffery Nor

KOTA KINABALU: The Sabah State Water Department (JANS) is urged to take immediate action to address the ongoing water problems at Kem Lok Kawi.

Putatan UMNO Chief, Jeffery Nor Mohamed  said this step is crucial as Kem Lok Kawi serves as a base for the nation’s soldiers who are always ready to defend the state of Sabah and Malaysia.

“We all know that Kem Lok Kawi is home to our soldiers. Therefore, the need for basic facilities is a priority in maintaining the morale of our troops,” he said in a statement here today.

Jeffery mentioned that he has been informed that each military family home pays a bulk fee, with deductions from salaries ranging between RM15 and RM20 to ensure a consistent water supply.

“However, what happens behind the scenes is concerning. The total water usage in the Kem Lok Kawi area alone reaches nearly a million liters.

“The water boring system implemented by the Ministry of Defence is still insufficient, and the potential for its long-term use cannot be guaranteed,” he said.

Jeffery pointed out that the water issues at Kem Lok Kawi have persisted for a long time, and it is clear that drastic measures need to be taken immediately.

“I do not blame any party, but we must find the most suitable way for ‘recovery’ in both the short and long term,” he said.

In this regard, Jeffery hopes that JANS can take decisive action to ensure a sufficient supply of clean water at Kem Lok Kawi.
