KOTA KINABALU: The Minister of Youth Development, Sports, and Creative Economy of Sabah, Datuk Nizam Abu Bakar Titingan, stated that the success of the Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS) in the 17th Sabah state election indicates that the people desire political stability and clear leadership.
He said the mandate given to GRS is not just an election win but a reflection of the people’s rejection of political uncertainty.
“The people have made a clear choice. They want stability, political maturity, and a government that focuses on the future, not on power struggles,” he said in his New Year 2026 message.
According to Nizam, the government led by the Chief Minister of Sabah, Datuk Seri Panglima Hajiji Noor, now bears a significant responsibility to ensure that the Sabah Unity Government remains strong and functions effectively.
He noted that 2026 marks the beginning of the implementation of the Sabah Maju Jaya 2.0 agenda (2026–2030), which focuses on economic growth, human capital development, and sustainable infrastructure.
At the same time, Nizam stated that his ministry will focus on youth development as economic value creators while also strengthening Sabah as a sports state and driving the creative and digital economy sectors.
Regarding MA63, he said the state government will continue to advocate for Sabah’s rights wisely while maintaining good relations with the Federal Government.
“Strengthening Sabah’s rights and federal relations must go hand in hand for the benefit of the people,” he said.
