KOTA KINABALU: The Governor of Sabah, Tun Musa Aman, has urged the people of the state to continue fostering harmony among different races and religions, especially as Sabah faces various economic and social challenges.
In his Special Message for Christmas 2025 and New Year 2026, Musa stated that tolerance and mutual respect are essential prerequisites for ensuring stability and prosperity in a multi-ethnic state like Sabah.
“In Sabah, the harmony among diverse races and religions is a strength that must be preserved,” he said.
Musa also emphasized that the celebration of Christmas embodies universal values such as love, peace, and hope, which he believes are crucial for building a united community, particularly in times of global uncertainty.
He acknowledged that throughout 2025, Sabah has been affected by global economic uncertainties, climate change, and the need to adapt to rapid technological advancements that put pressure on people from various backgrounds.
However, Musa noted that the people of Sabah have demonstrated resilience in facing these challenges, while reiterating that comprehensive economic development remains a priority for the state government.
He mentioned that the success of inclusive development relies on integrity in governance, efficient public services, and close cooperation between the government, private sector, and the people — a commitment that is often highlighted but still faces implementation challenges at the grassroots level.
He stated that progress can be observed in several sectors, including the economy, education, infrastructure, digitalization, and rural development, in line with the aspirations of Sabah Maju Jaya, although there is still room for improvement.
Musa emphasized that the state government aims to ensure that the benefits of development are felt equally by the people, regardless of their ethnicity, background, or location.
In closing his message, he wished a Merry Christmas to Christians and expressed gratitude to public servants, security forces, volunteer organizations, and the people of Sabah for their roles in maintaining the stability of the state.
