Sabah’s manufacturing sector records an approved investment of RM24.98 billion from Sept 2020 to Sept 2025 – Ewon

SIPITANG: The manufacturing sector in Sabah has documented an approved investment totaling RM24.98 billion for the period from September 2020 to September 2025.

Deputy Chief Minister and Minister of Industry, Entrepreneurship, and Transport of Sabah, Datuk Ewon Benedick, said that this involves 91 projects and will create over 8,000 job opportunities.

“This investment will further strengthen the role of SOGIP as a catalyst for the state’s industrial growth,” he said.

Ewon made these remarks during the groundbreaking ceremony for Sabah’s first scheduled waste facility at the Sabah Oil & Gas Industrial Park (SOGIP) here today.

He said that the project developed by E-Concern (Borneo) Sdn Bhd involves a total investment exceeding RM1 billion.

According to him, the construction of this facility is expected to support sustainable industrial growth while creating new job opportunities for the people of Sabah, in line with the Sabah First vision that emphasizes economic development based on local communities.

Ewon stated that the scheduled waste management facility is a critical requirement to support the development of the state’s industrial sector, especially as the management of scheduled waste will eventually be taken over by the State Government.

He noted that among the main benefits of this project include reducing dependence on external facilities, lowering logistics costs, enhancing compliance with environmental standards, and minimizing pollution risks, as well as having the potential to attract new investments to key industrial areas.
