TUARAN: Despite being labelled as the ‘underdog’, the Community Democratic Welfare Party (KDM) is optimistic about its potential to make an unexpected impact in the Kiulu state constituency in the 17th Sabah state election.
Vice Chief of Kiulu KDM Joluin Jairuh said the number of people expressing support for KDM’s candidate for Kiulu, Gundohing Henry Saimpon, is increasing day by day.
In drumming up support for KDM, he said it seemed Henry enjoys considerable backing from Kiulu voters.
According to Joluin, Henry is also a charismatic leader who is in touch with the people, experienced, and friendly, especially towards the youth.
“It looks like the people of Kiulu prefer the local party this time around, so I believe, based on this trend, the underdog KDM has the mathematical chance of creating an upset in Kiulu,” he said.
Joluin said this after the Santai Program with the people of Kg Pahu, Kiulu, on Sunday.
The programme was attended by Henry Saimpon, who is the vice president of KDM and also the Kiulu KDM chief.
Joluin said the wind of change is currently blowing all over the state in favour of local parties.
“We hope the people of Kiulu will rally behind the KDM candidate in the upcoming state election,” he said.
In this context, he urged Kiulu voters to turn out in full force with their identification cards at the polling stations on November 29.
