KOTA KINABALU:The upcoming Sabah state election should be embraced as a healthy part of democracy – a competition of ideas to develop the state, not personal attacks.
Former Sabah Chief Minister Datuk Seri Dr Salleh Said Keruak said the state election will feature a competition among three main coalitions—BN, GRS and Warisan—while PH is aligned with both BN and GRS.
He stated that this competition allows each coalition to showcase its vision and enables the public to assess ideas, policies, and candidates.
“Mature politics should steer clear of emotions and maintain civility. Leaders need to be generous, respect their rivals, and concentrate on the issues affecting the people,” he expressed in his recent Facebook post.
Salleh emphasised that despite differing party affiliations, as Sabahans, they should continue to foster friendship and unity.
In the end, the Usukan assemblyman pointed out that the public seeks solutions to their challenges: job opportunities, economic stability, cost of living, infrastructure development, and the future of Sabah’s children.
