KOTA KINABALU: The Supplementary Supply Bill (Expenditure) 2025 is not intended for political interests but is an urgent necessity for the welfare of the people, asserted the Appointed Assemblyman, Datuk Hajjah Amisah Yassin.
She made this statement while debating the motion during the Sabah State Assembly Meeting on Monday.
Amisah expressed her full support for the additional statement amounting to RM1.18 billion, emphasising that this step reflects the state government’s sensitivity and concern in addressing the current needs of the people, especially in rural areas.
“This is not a budget for salaries or overseas trips, but for roads, water, schools, places of worship, and the basic needs of the people. The public will judge who stands with them and who is merely engaging in politics,” she stated.
Amisah noted that although RM6.28 billion has been allocated through the original 2025 budget, the sharp increase in construction material costs and development needs necessitates additional funding.
She welcomed the significant allocation to the Sabah Water Department (RM109 million) to resolve water issues in Ranau, Pitas, Tongod, and other districts that have long faced problems.
Other ministries receiving additional funds include the Chief Minister’s Department (RM40 million) for risk management and project monitoring, the Ministry of Youth and Sports (RM11 million), the Sabah State Islamic Affairs Department (RM16.01 million), and the Ministry of Community Development (RM4.9 million) to assist vulnerable groups such as persons with disabilities and single mothers.
She also praised the government’s more inclusive approach by paying attention to remote districts like Tongod, Nabawan, Pitas, Beluran, and Telupid.
“The government is not idle. It acts promptly and listens to the voices from rural areas. We want balanced development, not just concentrated in urban areas,” she added.
Amisah also suggested that monitoring and implementation aspects be given attention.
