To celebrate this significant milestone, BIM is proud to reveal Alliance Bank as the main partner for the 2025 marathon, with the 2025 edition officially renamed the Alliance Bank Borneo International Marathon.

This year’s marathon promises to be an extraordinary celebration of fitness, unity, and sports tourism, aligned with the Kinabalu Running Club’s (KRC) long-standing commitment to promoting healthy living, community engagement, and sustainable development. The partnership with Alliance Bank underscores KRC’s dedication to creating world-class events that bring people together while elevating Sabah’s growing reputation as a hub for sports tourism.

“We are extremely proud to celebrate 15 years of the Borneo International Marathon,” said KRC President and BIM Race Director, Datuk Dr. Heng Aik Cheng, at the partnership signing ceremony of the 2025 Borneo International Marathon 15th Anniversary with Alliance Bank Partnership at Hyatt Centric, here on Friday.

Also present were Alliance Bank Group Chief Strategy and Transformation Officer, Dr. Aaron Sum, and City Hall (DBKK) Director General, Lifred Wong.

“This milestone reflects the dedication and passion of our runners, volunteers, and partners. From a humble beginning with just 529 participants in 2008 to now hosting over 10,000 runners, the hard work and commitment over the years have been instrumental in making this event the success it is today.

“The partnership with Alliance Bank marks a major step in elevating the Borneo International Marathon. Their support as the main partner for the 2025 edition will enhance the race experience for all involved—runners, volunteers, and spectators alike. Alliance Bank’s strong commitment to promoting wellness, community engagement, and social responsibility aligns seamlessly with KRC’s mission to foster fitness and positive change through sport. Together, we aim to make this year’s race not just a memorable event but one that leaves a lasting impact on our community and the environment.

“We are also proud to announce that the proceeds raised through the event will be donated to several local NGOs annually, continuing KRC’s tradition of giving back. Every runner, volunteer, and supporter is a donor and a hero in this cause, contributing to meaningful change and making a difference in the lives of others,” said Heng.

The 2025 Alliance Bank Borneo International Marathon will take place on May 11, featuring a range of race categories including the 42KM Full Marathon, 21KM Half Marathon, 10KM Run, and a special 3KM Charity Category.

This year, the 3KM Charity Category will support local NGOs, with participation from Special Olympics Sabah, the Palliative Care Association of Kota Kinabalu, and the Malaysian Association of Paediatric Palliative Care (MAPPAC), reinforcing KRC’s commitment to giving back and driving positive change in the community.

The 15th Anniversary of the Borneo International Marathon is a testament to KRC’s ongoing efforts to build a globally recognised sporting event that promotes health, inclusivity, and sustainable development. Registration is open, and participants are encouraged to sign up early to secure their place in this iconic race.

The 2025 Borneo International Marathon is supported by Alliance Bank (Main Partner), Lifewater Berhad (Official Water and Isotonic Drink Partner), Pos Malaysia Berhad (Official Logistics Partner), and NB Sports Nutrition (Official Energy Gel Partner), whose contributions help make this event a success.
