GASTS to implement initiatives to advocate for the welfare of local artists – Sitim

KOTA KINABALU: The Sabah Local Artists Alliance (GASTS) is committed to launching a range of initiatives designed to promote the rights and welfare of local artists in the area.

According to GASTS President Sitim Bandaron, these initiatives will encompass the organisation of traditional music workshops and various art-related events, in addition to enhancing the visibility of local artists across the state.

Sitim emphasized that GASTS does not aim to compete with existing artist and art associations; instead, the organization seeks to bring local artists together to advocate for their interests in the entertainment sector, particularly focusing on the rights of artists and singers from the KDM community.

These comments were made during the recent launch event of GASTS in Inanam, which also included performances by local artists and a networking opportunity.

Sitim expressed that the initial response to the newly established association has been very positive, with membership currently at almost 150 individuals.

He is optimistic that more local artists and singers will join GASTS in the future.

Membership is available to individuals aged 12 and older. Those interested in joining GASTS can reach out to him at 011-10785732.
