KOTA KINABALU: Sabah UMNO election director Jeffery Nor Mohamed has called for a comprehensive investigation into Sabah Mineral Management (SMM) Sdn. Bhd. to ensure the company’s governance is properly managed.
In making this appeal, he emphasised the importance of this investigation due to the implications of mineral resources in Sabah for the local populace.
Additionally, he noted the circulation of several viral videos alleging that certain members of the Sabah Legislative Assembly (ADUN) are involved in corruption linked to SMM.
Jeffery, who is also the Putatan UMNO chief, recommended that SMM’s audit statements be made public to restore the confidence of the people of Sabah in the mining company.
He made these remarks in a statement today.
In light of the turmoil surrounding SMM, Jeffery urged the Chief Minister of Sabah to consider stepping aside or remaining neutral to assure the people of Sabah regarding the transparency of the investigation into SMM.
