SANDAKAN: Chairman Lim Chee Choi of the Sandakan Hainan Association led a group of over 20 members to the 28th Sabah and Labuan “Hainan Night,” organised by the Keningau Hainan Association.
The event focused on building friendships among Hainanese from Sabah and Labuan and aimed to promote and preserve Hainan culture.
Spanning three days, the event included various activities such as a golf tournament, traditional games, a visit to an ecological farm, and a Hainan Night banquet, attracting enthusiastic participants from different regions.
The festivities began on October 30, with Hainanese youth gathering at the Phaedaisisyhen Camp for a camp organised by the Youth Wing of the Kota Kinabalu Hainan Association, encouraging interaction among young people from various areas.
On October 31, activities featured the Golf Open and Hainan categories, along with traditional Hainanese “sukee” games, allowing attendees to connect and enjoy a relaxed atmosphere, strengthening their bonds.
The schedule for November 1 included a visit to the Eco Yap cattle farm, lunch at Durian Valley, and the much-anticipated Hainan Night banquet.
Held at the Yuk Guang Primary School hall in Keningau, the banquet brought Hainanese together for a delightful evening.
The 28th Sabah and Labuan “Hainan Night” wrapped up successfully, creating lasting memories for attendees and further supporting the preservation and growth of Hainan culture.
