PAITAN (BELURAN) – Perikatan National (PN) is prepared to fight for Sabah State Assembly (DUN) seats in the upcoming state elections, said Sabah PN chairman Datuk Seri Dr Ronald Kiandee.
He expressed confidence that both BERSATU and PN will significantly influence the electoral landscape through the seats they aim to contest.
“We are currently evaluating the party’s strength across all levels and constituencies to determine the number of seats we will pursue in this election,” he said here today.
Ronald noted that BERSATU in Sabah has been revitalized, with 22 divisions becoming active again, despite previous inactivity. This resurgence has led to a notable emergence of leaders, particularly among the youth.
He expressed satisfaction that many young individuals are beginning to recognize the necessity of viewing Sabah’s issues from a national perspective, rather than being confined to the local political narrative of “Sabah for Sabahan.”
He perceives such narratives as serving primarily the interests of party politics.
Ronald is confident that the electorate possesses the wisdom and maturity to evaluate the political situation in Sabah.
He pointed out that despite the long-standing prevalence of this narrative among many Sabah parties, it has not been effectively reflected in past election outcomes.
In this regard, he emphasized the need for leaders who can elevate the dignity of the state and advocate for local needs at the national level to secure optimal solutions, rather than merely perpetuating state-centric political narratives.
In related matters, Ronald highlighted that issues such as infrastructure, water, electricity, and other essential needs of Sabah must be addressed at the federal ministry level.
“Thus, it is imperative to elevate Sabah’s concerns to the national stage and approach them from a broader perspective, ensuring that our needs are adequately heard and addressed.”
