CM appreciates the contributions of the Yayasan Kasih Suria in assisting the less fortunate members of society

KOTA KINABALU: The government’s efforts to continue providing comfort and welfare to the people, especially the less fortunate, require cooperation and support from all parties, including non-governmental organisations (NGOs), corporations, and the private sector.

The Chief Minister, Datuk Seri Panglima Hajiji Noor, said that the efforts of the Yayasan Kasih Suria in implementing various programs and charitable work for over 30 years, including through education, welfare, and socio-economics, have greatly benefitted the communities in need in the state.

He said that the charity concert organised by the foundation aligns with the needs of the Malaysian people as a caring and high-moral society.

“The initiative of individuals, non-governmental organisations (NGOs), private companies, and corporate entities in organising such welfare and charity programs should be emulated and fully supported.”

“In this regard, I urge more private companies and corporate bodies to step forward and provide assistance to those in need in this state,” he said during the Yayasan Kasih Suria Charity Concert at the Sabah International Convention Centre (SICC) here yesterday.

The text was delivered by the Minister of Science, Technology, and Innovation, Datuk Mohd Arifin Arif.

Hajiji congratulated the efforts of Yayasan Kasih Suria, led by Datuk Raya Erom, in helping the community in need in this state through various programs that have been organised.

He said this includes various efforts, such as establishing the Suria Welfare Home, which provides shelter for orphans, up to the Suria Arts Centre, which offers a platform for youth to develop their artistic talents.

“This foundation has also established the Suria Religious School in Tuaran as a centre for religious education, providing significant benefits to the local community,” explained Hajiji.

According to him, the government is indeed making earnest efforts to help and provide comfort to reduce the burden on the less fortunate from time to time.

“The organisation of this event is very much in line with the government’s efforts, particularly one of the pillars in the Sabah Maju Jaya Direction, which is Human Capital and People’s Welfare.”

“We are aware that not all members of our community are fortunate and live in comfortable conditions,” he added.

Hajiji said that the government’s efforts are insufficient and need to be supported by the entire community.

“In this matter, all parties need to be involved in welfare and community programs.”

“The contributions through this charity concert can be optimally used to further empower the programs being carried out, especially to upgrade the facilities of Suria Religious School and to ensure that more communities benefit,” said Hajiji.
